Number of People With AIDS Increases

VIVAnews - In the last two years, there are 88 people with HIV/AIDS in South Jakarta. 46 of them are HIV positive and the other 42 are are infected with AIDS.
Night clubs in South Jakarta has been blamed as the main factor that causes the spread of HIV/AIDS in the vicinity.

Head of South Jakarta Health Sub-agency Togi Asman Sinaga said that most people with HIV/AIDS live in Tebet Subdistrict and Kebayoran Baru.
There are many night clubs in said regions. Thus, unprotected sex and drug dealing is likely to be more rampant there.
There are eight people with HIV/AIDS in Tebet. However, this figure alone is not enough to determine that there the area is endemic. Another factor that has to be taken into account is that the only clinic serving people with HIV/AIDS is in Tebet. Therefore, probably not all of the infected people are actually from Tebet.

South Jakarta Health Sub-agency will continue encouraging people to be loyal to their spouses and not use drugs because these are key factors in preventing HIV/AIDS.
